Title IX Pregnant, Parenting, and Related Conditions Students

In accordance with  and , 91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ provides reasonable accommodations to students who are pregnant, parenting, or that have pregnancy related conditions. Pregnant, parenting, or pregnancy-related conditions statuses apply to both partners, regardless of sex or gender identity. Therefore, the non-birthing partner is also protected by both state and federal law. All employees are required to give the Title IX Director contact information to any student, or representative of a student, that shares they are pregnant. Your rights in general, as a student that is pregnant, parenting, or experiencing related conditions through Title IX is outlined here. 

91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ will not require a pregnant, parenting, or student with related conditions to do any of the following based on their current, future, or previous status:

  • take a leave of absence or withdraw from the student's degree or certificate program;
  • limit the student's studies;
  • participate in an alternative program;
  • change the student's major, degree, or certificate program;
  • refrain from joining or cease participating in any course, activity, or program at the institution.

91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ will, for reasons related to a student's pregnancy, parenting, or any related condition, without requesting formal accommodations:

  • excuse the student's absence
  • allow the student to make up missed assignments or assessments;
  • allow the student additional time to complete assignments in the same manner as the institution allows for a student with a temporary medical condition; and
  • provide the student with access to instructional materials and video recordings of lectures for classes for which the student has an excused absence under this section to the same extent that instructional materials and video recordings of lectures are made available to any other student with an excused absence.
  • For the health and safety of the student and the student's unborn child, such as allowing the student to maintain a safe distance from substances, areas, and activities.
