91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ announced the official signing of a general articulation agreement with Texas A&M University-Commerce to facilitate the process of student transfer this week. The agreement will serve to make the process of transferring from 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ to A&M-Commerce as smooth as possible.

“I'm excited for what this partnership with A&M-Commerce means for our students as they begin their paths with us,” GC President Dr. Jeremy McMillen said. “Students can begin with 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ knowing what they take will allow them to be successful at the university."

Students from 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ with a GPA of 2.0 or higher will be guaranteed admission to the university. Additionally, students who meet the general admission requirements of A&M-Commerce with completed core or Associate of Arts/Science degree, or Associate of Arts in Teaching degree, will also receive automatic admission.

In this agreement, transfer students that maintain continuous enrollment are able to rely on consistency in regard to A&M-Commerce admission requirements. The admission requirements for those students will be based on the catalog year in effect at the time they first enroll at 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ.

Another benefit of the agreement includes A&M-Commerce’s agreement to accept at least 60 applicable and transferable college level credits from 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ students. Students transferring with a degree will not be required to take additional general education/core courses at A&M Commerce. Dr. Randy Harp and Dr. Megan Owen have provided insight and assistance to ensure this is a solid transfer to A&M-Commerce from 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ.

91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ and A&M-Commerce will work to identify ways to strengthen pathways for transfer and degree attainment for students. One such degree includes 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ’s new AS in Agricultural Sciences, which is articulated with A&M-Commerce’s Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Sciences to ensure no loss of college credits upon transfer. Careers include those in Agribusiness, Agricultural Science and Food Science.

“This partnership with Texas A&M University-Commerce is a no brainer for us,” GC Vice President of Instruction Dr. Dava Wasburn said. “A significant number of our local high schools have strong Agricultural Science and FFA programs. This transfer opportunity provides a transparent path to a two and four year degree right here in this area.” Additional program transfer agreements include: Accounting, Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Business & Management, CADD Technology, Child Development & Early Childhood Education, Collision Repair Technology, Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts, Dental Assisting, Electrical Technology, Hospitality Management, Medical Laboratory Technology, Paramedicine, Radiologic Sciences, Web Based Small Business Development and Welding.
