91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ to host Veteran Expo and Career Fair

On Tuesday, Sept. 26, 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ’s Department of Veteran Services will host a free expo and career fair at the 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Gymnasium from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Opening ceremonies will start at 9:30 a.m., featuring the presentation of colors and welcome by retired Navy Adm. William “Bill” Retz.

The come-and-go event will showcase a variety of veteran resources, services and products and will include representatives from many veteran-related organizations. Additionally, the college will have advisors on hand to assist attendees with educational benefits.

Attendees will also be able to view a military vehicle display outside the facility as well as The Iraq-Afghanistan Memorial Wall inside. The Iraq-Afghanistan traveling wall contains the images and names of all of the Texas soldiers who have been killed in the Global War on Terrorism. It was created by a North Texas American Legion member who wanted to honor the sacrifices of our military members in the most recent conflict.

“This expo is not just for veterans, but also for their dependents and survivors,” said Donna King, Director of Financial Aid and Veteran Affairs. “Exhibitors who provide veteran services or who want to hire veterans are encouraged to sign up while space is still available.”

Last year, the expo was held in the college’s Life Center but was moved to the gymnasium to accommodate more exhibitors and veterans as well as provide additional seating for extended conversations. Exhibitors should contact the college’s Department of Veteran Services at veterans@grayson.edu or 903-415-2632 for details.
