91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ

Beat the Heat 5k Run/Walk benefitting local first responders will be held on Apr. 29 with a start time of 8:30 a.m. at behind Piner Middle School (402 W. Pecan Street) in Sherman.

The fourth annual event is co-sponsored by the 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Honors College and the 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ County Law Enforcement Association (GCLEA). Proceeds will benefit the GCLEA bereavement fund, the GCLEA scholarship fund, and the 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Deputy Chad Key Memorial Scholarship.

Register for the run at  or go to and search for Beat the Heat. Registration is $25 through Apr. 10 and late registration is $30. Packet pickup will be at Academy Sports & Outdoors,Town Center, 3939 US Hwy 75 North, Sherman, TX 75090 on Friday Apr. 28 from noon until 6 p.m.

Donations will also be accepted through the getmeregistered.com site for people who can not participate but would like to contribute to the cause.
